After using this app for a few years I got it dialed in. The latest update is terrible. I lost all my workouts. There is no way to set different sounds to distinguish between intervals in a work out. Bring back the older version.

While the physical gym boss is a nice product, this app did need a rewrite to keep up with other similar timer apps -- but, I used this one because it had a stopwatch function. The latest update removed the stopwatch function and offered no option to save/restore or migrate my existing timers. Very uncool!
I loved the old app. BUT now... 1. I lost 20+ timers and was still using the new app after re-entering timers. Then the new timers were deleted even though theyd been saved. This happened multiple times! 2. The timers are not as easy to enter. 3. The ad for the "real" gymboss timer will not go away with the premium -which hello if I pay to not have ads I dont want that one either. The only pros are the countdown addition and being able to leave and enter the app without the workout stopping.
All of my workouts are gone. Worse than that, the new app is so buggy that I cant even create a new one.
Revised: 3/23/15. The app doesnt keep newly created timers. I too lost my old timers but now it will not keep any timers I create in the new version. It only keeps the core timers and any regions made to them. But may duplicates or additional timers get wiped. I have stopped using it. Even though their customer service said any future revisions would not wipe out stored timers. Use another app. Dont waste your time if you like to have custom timers.
This update is literally unusable. Not kidding, there is actually no way to create my own timer. Its annoying that my own timer was deleted in the update, but I wouldve been okay with it if I could just create it again. Unfortunately it just doesnt work, for whatever reason. Ive deleted this app and downloaded a different one.
The update is horrible. Where are my saved timers? The pop-up keyboard blocks creation of a new timer. I am deleting the app in favor of another. Horrible. Get IntervalTimer and pass on this one.
If you use this app for customized timers, DO NOT UPDATE. #1 you will lose all of your customized timers. #2 If you used different tones for different intervals within your workout, you will not be able to recreate them. #3 The paid premium upgrade is completely useless.
I used this app at every workout UNTIL the latest update. Like other reviewers have noted, my saved timers were deleted. Also the stop watch feature is now gone, which is what I used the most because of the contrasting black background with the white numbers. It was much easier to read than the iPhone stop watch is, but alias Im stuck with the iPhone version for now.
2 years worth of timers are gone and it is taking forever to log new workouts because apparently this app doesnt allow you to duplicate intervals? How convenient. This is literally the worst app update Ive ever experienced and Im tempted to look into a new timer because this is ridiculous.
This new update is a awful. There are ads on the home screen, ads on the timer, and ads when the timer is done. The UI for setting up new timers is an absolute mess, and even starting timers is more difficult than before. The reason I kept using the old app even though it hadnt been updated in years was its simplicity. I wont be using this app again unless drastic improvements are made.
My precious old timers are gone. Alarm sound between each interval is now forced to be identical; however, I need different sounds to indicate change of pace. (Now I am forced to look at the screen to figure out next exercise rather than use sound queues.) I think old UI was just much nicer and simpler to use. I unfortunately will have to shop for another app now.
The update wiped my times. So be it. I added new times in the new app. They however are deleted every time I close the app. That seems kind of pointless.
This was one of my favorite fitness apps before the catastrophic update. I had all of my customized timers set up just the way I wanted them. Then, I woke up this morning, ready for a workout to discover the worst app update in recent memory. I dont know whose idea it was to (surprise!) delete all of the users custom timers, but that person should be fired and openly mocked on LinkedIn. I just wanted to leave a scathing review before I delete this app and give some other app developer who doesnt hate their customers my time, attention and possibly my money. Farewell Gymboss. Youre dead to me.
All my timers were erased and I cant make them the same way again. Now this app is dead to me. I am being dramatic but I had a lot of timers that I used all throughout the week. The fact that I cant even remake them the way they were is just so annoying
The update warned it would delete my timer lists. That would have been fine but after the update any timer youd create would only appear for a few hours.
Had the original, which was awesome! When I updated it, it became useless! All my timers get deleted every time I exit the app. The pop up ads are disruptive. Would pay for the upgrade but afraid to since the free doesnt save any of my timers! I would pay to get the old one back!!
After the latest update, when I tap an interval, the interval doesnt open, which means I cant start the timer, which means this app has become useless.
When I saw there was an update I was anticipating much better things for an awesome app. I have to say that its not as easy to use and taking away the sounds that were available in the previous version is just wrong.
I got this app when it was first released. It was an awesome time. This update is terrible! If you havent updated, DONT! I lost all of my timers AND this update isnt nearly as user friendly and the UI is really pretty ugly now. Terrible. Its not even worth one star in its current state. Currently looking for a new timer.
